Don’t think that you’re a saintFiled Under: Weekly Tuesday Dose of goodness
To avoid religious issues here, I’m not going to mention any sensitive words. Instead I’m going to make use of the word “saint” here to relate this article.
Basically, this article is about people who are absolutely inconsiderate towards other people. This source of ugliness is the reason why so many people have succumbed into being ugly as well.
To know more, read on…
There’s a few ways how one can be inconsiderate to others.
For example:
1) Sneezing and coughing in the public without covering their mouths with tissue or hands at least
2) Digging their nose in the public
3) Exposing unsightly parts (such as a foot rot) of the body even if they’re just legs or hands, AND start scratching on it, causing flakes of skin to fall off.
4) Getting on a public transport without bathing
5) Going around wearing body perfumes that can irritate some people with sensitive nose
These are just a few of the many examples that I’ve seen so far in Singapore. I believe it’s more or less the same in other parts of the world.
The point is, these people think that they’re saints and that the products of their inconsiderate behavior is harmless to others.
That’s so untrue.
If that’s the case, then SARS wouldn’t have been so prevalent during its peak. It was when people finally realised their social responsibilities, then they began to play a part. But it was too late; few people had already died in order to wake these few inconsiderate people up.
Yet, after SARS, such irresponsible behavior persists! For one, I myself had recently saw an old man, decently dressed, who came and sit beside me. I was taking an MRT (Mass Rapid Transit train), heading home. I was using my laptop and he was looking at it as though it was the latest holographic PC or what. That’s really ok, I don’t mind because it’s a public transport and I should know since it’s public, I cannot prevent people from peeping at my laptop. Therefore I only need to be careful with the contents shown on my laptop.
That’s still ok UNTIL he pulled up his pants, exposing his reddish, slighted rotted leg and began to scratch it. I was sort of disturbed by his antics and was hoping, in good grace that he’d stop. But he wouldn’t! Not only did the scratching persists, soon after, he began digging his nose and flicked his dirt in my direction!
I was like, man, this old man is REALLY disgusting! To think I had hoped that he’d at least be a little more socially responsible (a less harsh word compared to civilized) as an elder of the society but I was so wrong.
His actions serve as a prime negative example to all young Singaporeans. Please do not emulate this kind of irresponsible behavior.
In conclusion, when you are about to think that your body products (such as saliva vapour due to sneezing, nose dirt, etc) are harmless to others, please think again. You’re not a saint, your by-products are not 100% harmless!
Have a nice weekend!
