The Visions of Strides Interactive are to
- Promote Game Development in Singapore
- Improve the standards of Game Developers in Singapore via networking
- Provide a base for serious or casual Game Developers
Based on the three basic visions, we also hope to achieve:
- A leader in the local Games Development scene
- A viable gaming and game development community
- Developing games that actually sells
- Establish as prominent global player in the industry
The mentra of Strides Interactive is relatively simple.
Strides
This simply means, multiple steps. We do not believe in a single step to heaven. Every step in the right direction means progress. And if we make progress, we will succeed. Gradual progress turns success into a matter of time instead of just pure talents.
There is no silver bullet which will accelerate your game development life cycle other than a progressive approach, with knowledge built upon knowledge, with strength to strength The difficulty however, is not the technological obstacles, rather, it’s yourself. You must be able to make the right decision to stop going through obstacles and start making games.
Interactive
We believe that humans by nature are interactive. We also believe that humans have the will to survive in times of extreme adversity. However in Games Development, especially in the modern era, one can still hope to accomplish a game development project alone. However, if it were to be viable, then we must interact, we must improve, we must communicate and learn whatever we need to achieve success.
BBLib
This is the game engine I’ve created in year 2002 as the main engine to run Jedi Wing, a portfolio, personal freeware game made using Starwars-related materials. In its first iteration, things were much simplier but of less quality as well. I virtually wrote every single component in the engine, except for APIs like DirectX and WinAPI …
Towards the end of year 2004, I’ve decided to plan a 2nd Iteration upon the engine which would eventually be known as
BBLib 2nd Iteration. This project is to upgrade BBLib from its existing level to a level where the engine would be divided into 5
major components.
Looking furthur, the engine is now headed towards a new Project, known as The Collaboration, where BBLib would offically be renamed as StridesLib to be inline with our vision. For some trivialities, BB actually stood for Building Blocks officially, but it actually came from “BoonBoon”; a pet name which I often use to call my wife.
